North East Aberdeenshire
When parents face overwhelming problems such as illness, family breakdown, new additions to the family especially multiple births, or bereavement, they need help and support, and all too often they have no close family member or friends who can give them encouragement or breathing space when they really need it.
Home-Start NEA can provide a caring volunteer to help mum or dad cope again. The volunteers, who have parenting experience, will visit families at home. They are friendly, non-judgemental people, who can be trusted by parents to listen in strict confidence, and to work for the needs of each individual family.

Home-Start NEA is:
Home-Start NEA respects your privacy and the volunteer visiting will not talk to anyone other than your family co-ordinator about you without your prior knowledge. The only exception to this is when there is a serious concern about the welfare of a child.
A visit is normally for three hours, once a week and the support is available as long as a family needs it. Your volunteer might chat with you, play with the children to give you a break, or help you with practical things, and they can also pass on information to you about other useful services that you can use in your local community. Families are in control and they can say when they need help, or if they can manage on their own again, or until the youngest child starts school.
Families can refer themselves to Home-Start NEA, or they can be referred by a Health Visitor, Social Worker, Nursery Nurse, Doctor, Family Support Worker, or other Voluntary Organisations.
We are here to help, so please contact us now to find out what we can do to help you, and your family, cope in difficult, stressful times. Just one phone call, or e-mail can make all the difference.
