Family pressures can sometimes be difficult to manage without emotional support and guidance around you. Many people can feel confused by the range of information available or struggle to know who to contact for support.
Home-Start North East Aberdeenshire provides a direct support network – families are introduced and matched to an available volunteer. Home-Start’s volunteers work alongside families just like yours to give compassionate and confidential support which is tailored to your individual needs.
Home-Start volunteers understand how hard it can be to be a parent. They work alongside parents, in their own homes, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.
If you would like to talk to one of our co-ordinators about how to access support then please call our office on (01346) 532007 or email
Home-Start NEA offers the chance to attend some of our smaller family groups.
Your children get the chance to play, learn and have fun with other children and with different books and toys.
You get the chance to meet and talk to other parents – and many parents discover they are going through the same kinds of experiences and feel less alone.
Many of the staff and volunteers running Home-Start groups have also been home-visiting volunteers. Our groups are a great place for parents to pick up advice, tips and help from Home-Start and other parents.

The team at Home-Start NEA have been busy running weekly outings for all of our families over the school summer holidays.
The trips have taken us to all corners of the North East and enjoyed lots of local activities.
A special thank you goes to all our families for attending, our volunteers who came along, to the venues who hosted us and to Arnold Clark Community Fund for supporting us with transport costs.
Roll on Summer 2023!
Home-Start UK recently published a new report looking into the concerns parents had in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 1,200 families, who are supported by various Home-Start schemes across the UK, took part in the survey. It highlighted parents main concerns for their families and calls for further investment into addressing disparities with a focus on building on the strength and resilience of communities navigating unprecedented challenges.
